I think that when Anet saw AoC they thought 'Oh sh1t, we cant do that, but we still have guillable cheapskates that we can mess around with for roffles in GW2'.

I'm set to go for the weekend. Gonna roll in a PVP server with my old college buddies.
As for GWars, I think I have moved past it. The last thing I got really excited for in the game was the XMas event. Since then, I can't even be bothered to play it.
I was having fun fanning the flames with Bhavv in the AoC forums on the multiple preorder key nonsense.
So, what I can't decide now is what to roll first. Herald of Xotli? A Guardian? A Conquerer? Barbarian? Sheesh... I am done being a ranger. That was my primary in both GWars and Lineage2. Time for something different.
Leaning towards Herald of Xotli... dunno though.
You guys will have to post what server you go into too... if its PVE or PVP (me PVP)

That forum is a mess. Some guy right now has lost his job and is asking for donations via a link in his signature, and the whole community is fine with it and sending him money. Apparantly someone on the internet asking for money is a charitable cause. Maybe I should try it on the 20+ forums I visit too... joke.

I'm probably going on an RP-PvP server (less scrubs and idiots, more serious gamers and more challenging PvP). Not sure on class... possibly Tempest of Set, Herald of Xotli, or Guardian. I'll decide at character generation most likely depending on if I like the Stygian options much.

PVP servers are going to be full of scrubs ganking lower levels all the time. It doesnt make PVP more challenging, it just means you can kill anyone anywhere.

Same here for the same reasons. I like the immersion that killing others wherever you are has, but like the real world, there must be consequences. At least that's what I gathered from RP-PvP...
I'm considering going with my D2 roots and going with a Barb. I want heads to roll, and I'm tired of playing a caster.

Well from what I've been reading Heads can Roll from almost any of the Classes. I'll be on a PvE servers mostly. I've never liked killing your teammates in D2 therefore I'll be avoiding the random (whoosh!,, thudd, thump, thump) of someone I don't know randomly entering the area and taking my head off just as I was relaxing and enjoying the scenery.
As I understand it there will be multiple character options on different servers therefore I might make a character on a RP PvP just to check it out.
Also as I'm reading the info on the Guardian, I'm liking this class more and more. The whole Pole Arm melee at range, cutting swathing paths of destruction, sounds more my style of game play. Plus that Roman style of armor is simply 1337 unlike the gay Paragon head gear armor. Furthermore their legion style armor has HELMS.
Anet can learn a lot from this game just on Armor alone.
I STILL WANT MY ROMAN STYLE HELM FOR THE PARAGON!
I was hoping the Assassin would turn out better though. I would have just enjoyed making one just to have her walk around half naked. Speaking of Half naked I read that some cities have very interesting places to check out if you know what I mean. (nudge nudge say no more)

You never "leave" GW, because it has no subscription . Just call it prolonged breaks.
I bought GW in April 05, finished prophecies with friends, turned to high-end trading, made a few millions, got FoW armor, tried GvG and HA for a while and quit after Sorrow's Furnace. Came back in April 06 to finish factions, did some AB, got the prestige armor, did a ton of Urgoz runs and then got bored again. Came back in Oct 06 for Nightfall, was one of the first to beat it, abused the hell out of Searing Flames and Heroway in HA, and quit after beating DoA.
I didn't play GW at all in 2007, came back in Jan 2008 for EotN, played 4 days and then uninstalled the game itself after seeing what titles and Ursan had become.
That's one of the good things about GW. You can treat the game like you treat Neverwinter Nights, and play the storyline. But as an MMO, it's pretty stupid. I love the graphics, music, UI...just wish they hadn't let it go down the drain.

Me a meanie? Never! I try to help people out all the time. I just need a change from the PVE only views that I have had for awhile. Believe me, it's tough because it's out of my comfortzone.
But I did play some Lineage2 for a bit and had a blast at the PVP aspect of it so I want to give it a shot.
Hmmm... the Guardian does sound pretty nice based on your description. May have to give that one a second look.
I'll try and drag my friends over to the PVP-RP server. I know they were currently looking at Bane PVP Server.

I would have but I was a cheap bastard and elected a slower shipping method. I get mine Monday I think? In on the early launch, so doesn't matter much in the long run other than my friends beat me at something in AoC already...

I also intend to walk in Monday and get my copy. If they don't have it I will still have 10 days of paid trial service. Perhaps by Monday I'll have the download done.
So much for Early Release. The Early release 3 days period is what it takes to upload load it.

You should have gotten your early access account earlier, I had everything downloaded and have been waiting since wednesday.
|
Oddly enough, I've been debating it a lot. Thats why I waited until the last moment. Also I wanted to read up on as much info as possible.
BTW What servers are people from the GW community considering on connecting to? I think it would be great to form up a guild from the GW Guru community. As I've been reading the forums over there, it appears a lot of guilds are forming from other communities.
